WTH BLOGGER?!?

So apparently Blogger has somehow gone and lost ALL of the blogs I was following. There were literally hundreds. And even the dozen or so that I actively kept up to date with, I don't know all their URLs, thats sorta the point of following them... I find them, follow them and don't need to worry about finding them again...
I only remember three of the blogs URLs (the three that I read the most of thankfully) however now I've noticed that none of them are actually on Blogger... Perhaps thats a hint to use my Wordpress instead?
WTH Blogger? Get your act together.

Oh never mind... apparently a temporary glitch... I've got my eye on you Blogger...

Pop

Hey, just a quick update.
I know I haven't posted for a while now but be honest, pictures of my garden aren't that exciting are they?
I do have a large stockpile of them that I'll eventually put up though. I also bought a greenhouse to protect my seedlings.

However this update is actually about my pregnancy... yeah the one that I haven't mentioned before...
Today I'm 37 weeks and am therefore 'approved' for my home birth :D
I'm going through the Southern Midwifery Group Practice who operate out of the Flinders Hospital Birth Centre and also do home births for low risk women.

I got a call from the oxygen tank company who are going to deliver the oxygen tank sometime later today. The call was somewhat unexpected in that, I knew they were going to deliver it sometime soon, I just didn't realise it would be exactly at 37 weeks to the day.

So now I'm waiting around for them to arrive, which is pretty boring especially since I have things to do today. Most importantly I need to go get a blood test to test my iron levels. They were pretty low when I had the glucose test at 28 ish weeks so the midwife got me to have iron supplements to try to raise my levels. If they aren't high enough this time then I might have to have an iron transfusion or something to raise them. Low iron levels puts me at risk of hemorrhage which is something I don't want to deal with.

I was going to have the test yesterday but forgot to take the paper with me when I left the house in the morning and couldn't be bothered coming back just for the paper only to go back to the same spot. Since I thought I was going to be free all today it didn't seem to matter just putting it off for one day... sigh

Now that uni is finished for the year (although I'm pretty sure I failed everything) I'm feeling much more excited about the baby. I can't believe there's only three(ish) weeks left!

Because I was still doing uni assignments when I had my son, Turtle, I never really had this time of just preparing for the baby. It's odd, I'm not really sure what I 'should' be doing. We're trying to clean up the 'baby' room which has become inundated with boxes of stuff. It's also planned to be the labour and birth room for me so it sort of needs to be fairly tidy. But because I've been in more pain this pregnancy (it's been much rougher on my body this time round) I've found it hard to get stuck into the organising. Since a lot of it is my uni stuff from the past couple of years it sorta need to be me doing the organising :/

Pretty early on in this pregnancy I started getting pelvic pain/lower back pain. Around twentyish weeks when I was on my teaching practicum I lifted something that was a little heavy, I would usually have been fine it wasn't too heavy for me but since I'm pregnant the relaxin hormone (yeah it relaxes ligaments just like the name sounds...) has made all my joints not as strong and something twisted or pulled in my lower back. Luckily I was seeing my chiropractor later that day anyway and he managed to mostly fix it. But ever since then I've been dealing with pain coming and going, its either PGP or SPD which are similar ailments.

At around 32/33 weeks I was getting lunch in the food court and was carrying my son on my hip when someone ran into us and knocked us over. I landed on my butt/hip and my elbow with my son on top of me to try to protect him. Unfortunately we were right beside the bench edge and he manged to hit his head on that. He got a huge bump there straight away and was crying. I was in a daze because it had all happened so quickly but as soon as I saw he was crying I put him straight to my breast to calm him down. I was still sitting on the ground trying to get my mind together while calming Turtle and people just started surrounding me. There was the guy who knocked me over ( he was horrified and just hadn't seen me in front of him), the cleaner ladies (who are very nice), some ladies who run a playgroup we've been to a couple of times and then a couple of the security guys showed up to see what they could do to help. I was trying to figure out a way to get Tiger to come over (he was sitting at a table with the pram waiting for us) but couldn't figure out a way to get someone to go look for him. Luckily one of his Mums friends came over to ask if I was okay (and also announced to everyone that I was pregnant in case they couldn't tell (seriously it tends to get hidden by jackets)) and I got her to go grab him since she knew what he looked like. He came over and we decided to take Turtle to the ER since the bump was huge and pretty close to the temple. The security guy was pretty insistent about it in fact and actually wanted to call an ambulance but I knew it would actually be quicker for us to drive around rather than wait for an ambulance. I also wasn't sure if our Ambulance Cover had been renewed yet since I'd paid for it but only the day or so before and I didn't know how long it took to process. Anyway, the security guy got a wheelchair and helped me to the car (which was good since I was just starting to realise that I was actually injured myself, I was so concerned with Turtle I didn't really feel too much pain yet). The security guy gave us a number to call to leave details about the accident and let them know what happened with the ER visit (part of their normal routine but he also seemed genuinely concerned with Turtle since he has kids of his own). By the time we got to the ER Turtle was fine... he wasn't crying or showing any signs of pain, the bump had already started going down, he was running around climbing on chairs and being cheeky. So since it was going to be a 2-3 hour wait and I was in more and more pain after realising Turtle was okay we decided to leave and just go home so I could call the chiro to make an appointment. They gave us an info sheet that declared Turtles injury a 'minor head wound' that just requires parental observation anyway. By now Turtle was missing his nap time so when we got home he got put to bed (which the sheet said is actually fine, the common thing about not letting people with head injuries go to sleep is incorrect as long as they can wake up and seem aware of what's going on around them then they're fine). I started to realise that there was something seriously wrong with my pelvis and I couldn't sit, stand or lay down without being in excruciating pain (I'm not exaggerating, it was sooo painful). I called the chiro but couldn't get an appointment until the next day because my normal chiro wasn't there that day and I didn't want to see anyone else. So I just waited around in pain for the whole day and night (couldn't really sleep, laying down was the most painful thing). The next day the chiro (he's Canadian trained and over there they get trained as a full medical degree not just a short science degree like they do here in Australia) put everything back into place and untwisted my pelvis and put my leg back in place (it was literally inches shorter than my other leg) and I felt the difference immediately. Soo much better, not completely healed because the muscles and ligaments had suffered from the jarring fall and from being pulled out of place for an entire day. He also had a quick stretch of Turtles neck to make sure nothing was out of place from his head knock. He said one side was a little stiff but he stretched it out and everything has been okay since. Turtle was really well behaved for it too, he'd never had it done before so he was just staring up at the chiro in confusion. So that fall was roughly a month ago now and I've been mostly healed for the past couple of weeks but some days I just get really stiff and sore and it feels as though something has moved out of place in my lower back again. I saw the chiro again last week and everything was mostly good then, unfortunately the weight of the growing baby is putting pressure on all the stressed ligaments and my lower back. Last night it felt as though something had moved out of place but even though I felt it pop back during the night I'm still pretty sore today. Either it wasn't the only thing out of place or the muscles/ligaments are just fatigued from being stretched incorrectly. So I've been pretty sore today, occasionally I'll go to take a step and get an excruciating pain in my lower back as I try to put my foot down.

The company finally got here with the oxygen tank. It's smaller than I imagined but has almost 2m squared of oxygen in it so that seems like a lot. They got here at around 4ish which is a lot later than I was hoping but at least I had enough time to go get the blood test and do shopping.

The blood test literally only took about two minutes from when I walked in. She checked the paperwork, I signed, she took the vial of blood and it was done. So... that was easy. Also it apparently only takes about an hour for them to process the test since it's done at the local hospital over the road and they don't have to send it away anywhere. So the results will be done in plenty of time for my midwife appointment on Thursday.

Well, this turned out longer than I intended... Enough for one day I think :)
